My Oil Pastel Drawings

I hope that you liked, followed and practiced the tips and ticks that I have given in my previous posts. I have tried my hand on oil pastels recently and would not deny the fact that I enjoy using oil pastels more than water colors. In this post I will show you some of my oil pastel drawings and how I made them…

Some points to note before we start are as follows:

1.    50 shades oil pastels of DOMS are used for coloring

2.    All the drawings are taken as reference from the internet

3.    Blending done is only with the use of tissue paper

4.    More of nature and scenery drawings are done by me as I love making those.

Let us now look at few of my drawings:

1.    The infinite road

This is my first drawing I tried with oil pastels. I will not lie, it was a mess at first as to what colors to pick, how to blend and it did not look like what the actual image was.

Colors used: Medium and Light yellow, Orange, Scarlet, Primary Red, Maroon, Brown and, Black. The trees are made after coloring the background. Any 10B or graphite pencil will work on Oil pastels.

2.    Colorful waterfall

I tried this one just to have hands on practice to blend efficiently as u see there are 3 4 different colors used.

Colors used: Fluorescent Pink, Pink, Medium Yellow, White, Light blue, Cobalt blue, Cerulean Blue, Green and Black.

3.    Autumn

In these drawings I have tried using the stippling method to show the effect of autumn. All the bright colors are used.

Colors used: Geranium, Scarlet, Primary Red, Vermilion Hue, Medium Yellow, Deep Yellow, Brown, Green, Orange, Blue.

4.    Forest sunlight

This one is kind of realistic as the sun rays comes though the trees like we see in the           forest. It looks really simple but this one was a bit more time consuming than others.

Some tips for this one are: The base colors should be dark but not that much which hides the sun rays. The trees should be close but not much close. Use scrapper on the trees to show a realistic effect.

Colors used: Black, Brown, Green, Ocher Yellow, Sap Green, Dark Brown, Lemon Yellow, Light Yellow.

5.    Moon

There are two drawings with concentrating on the moon light. Both of these have a different feel as one is light base and other will have dark base.

This is the last post with respect to Oil Pastel paintings. I hope you liked my previous blogs and few of my drawings. Stay tuned for my further blogs on other interesting topics. Thank you!
